This is a garden on top of a hill. Spectacular views also means spectacular winds. The previous owner had planted a load of leylandii hedges which, although effective windbreaks, were remarkably ugly.
They had to go.
Instead we have made a series of sitting areas spaced around the house and along a rill which ends with an amazing view. There are wide borders, bold plants, fine chickens, an orchard, a newly dredged pond, lots of new trees and a vegetable garden.
